Project Overview: SFS Rooftop Extensions and Renovation of 25 Blocks
BAS Frames successfully delivered the steel frame system (SFS) rooftop extensions for 25 blocks, each of which was renovated and extended to include modern student bedrooms, a common area, and a shared kitchen.
Each block was equipped with new, fully built steel kitchens and common areas (KCR), designed as standalone structures that were linked seamlessly to the existing renovated buildings. The innovative SFS construction method allowed us to meet the unique challenges of this project, especially given that students remained on-site during the renovation.
Challenges and Solutions:
- Restricted Heavy Machinery Usage:
Due to active student occupancy, heavy machinery was not feasible on-site. All materials were vertically transported using a single forklift, showcasing how the SFS system minimises the reliance on heavy equipment while maintaining efficiency. - Speed and Efficiency:
Each block was completed within just two weeks, highlighting the speed and precision of the SFS construction approach. The client expressed immense satisfaction with the swift project execution and the quality of the results.
Collaboration and Execution:
BAS Frames was appointed to handle onsite installation and project management. Partnering with Steel Frame Solutions (SFS), we ensured the seamless integration of design, materials, and installation.
This project serves as a prime example of how SFS systems revolutionise construction, delivering exceptional results even in challenging environments.
